Citrus Maca Chai Smoothie

Drink Herbs + Supplements Uncategorized

Anyone else excited that it’s currently citrus season? I know I am! I’ve recently been learning more about chakras and why it’s important to make sure they’re unblocked. The sacral chakra, in particular, is responsible for feminine energy and reproductive organs. So how do you know if your sacral chakra is blocked and how do you unblock it? You may have a lack of motivation, creativity, and reduced libido if your sacral chakra is blocked. To help open it, it’s important to bring in warmth, orange foods, and honor your reproductive organs. This citrus maca chai smoothie was created specifically for it!

Did you know that BPA and other plastic chemicals are endocrine disruptors and can have the power to cause reproductive problems? I love replacing typical plastic storage bags with reusable silicone ones from Stasher. Add the hormone-regulating power of maca and this just may be your new favorite smoothie for your monthly cycle.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp. Gaia Herbs MacaBoost Vanilla Chai (or 1 tsp. of maca, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, cardamom, ginger)
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup frozen coconut meat
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/4 peeled orange
  • 1 Tbsp. toasted flax seed

Make

  1. Prep ingredients by dicing fresh bananas and coconut meat. Add them to a reusable Stasher bag and freezing overnight.
  2. In the morning add everything to a high-speed blender for about 30 seconds to a minute.
  3. Serve with extra cinnamon on top or an added kick.
  4. Enjoy!

I don't mean warm as in physically warm, I mean packed full of warming herbs for your gut! Ginger, cinnamon, cardamon... you're GI tract loves 'em. During winter months it is especially important to warm up that belly. With all of the holidays and family gatherings, not only are our bodies dormant, but the foods we're consuming are too. These foods refuse to move through your body properly, so they sit and decay. So, I figured it's the best time to spice things up! Ingredients 1/3 cup pumpkin puree 1/ ...

Coconut Cacao Date Shake
If you follow along with my Instagram stories you probably already know this smoothie has been on repeat. It literally tastes like a chocolate coconut milkshake and I'm 100% okay with that. I added a couple adaptogens to mine to balance stress, anxiety, and hormones, and I can't taste them at all! (ashwagandha typically has a very bitter taste) This particular smoothie is topped with my homemade coconut yogurt, local bee pollen + shelled hemp seeds. Here ya go! Ingredients 1/2 cup frozen coconut meat (I got mine at Trader Joe's) 1-2 large handfuls of spinach 2-3 pitted medium-large Medjool dates (depending on your sweetness pre ...

Rejuvenating Green Smoothie
Cold and flu season is in full force this Winter, so what better way to include tons of nutrients while hydrating your body? A green smoothie of course! This one not only includes fruit but some hidden veggies too. Most green smoothies never fill me up. So because this is winter, and we should be nourishing our bodies, I added some sun butter. If you're unfamiliar with sun butter, it's similar to nut butter but it's nut-free! Sunflower seeds are packed with antioxidants, magnesium, and may promote healthy cholesterol levels. If you're like me and despise waking up early to make breakfast, you're in luck. You can prep all of the fruit a ...
