Citrus Maca Chai Smoothie

Drink Herbs + Supplements Uncategorized

Anyone else excited that it’s currently citrus season? I know I am! I’ve recently been learning more about chakras and why it’s important to make sure they’re unblocked. The sacral chakra, in particular, is responsible for feminine energy and reproductive organs. So how do you know if your sacral chakra is blocked and how do you unblock it? You may have a lack of motivation, creativity, and reduced libido if your sacral chakra is blocked. To help open it, it’s important to bring in warmth, orange foods, and honor your reproductive organs. This citrus maca chai smoothie was created specifically for it!

Did you know that BPA and other plastic chemicals are endocrine disruptors and can have the power to cause reproductive problems? I love replacing typical plastic storage bags with reusable silicone ones from Stasher. Add the hormone-regulating power of maca and this just may be your new favorite smoothie for your monthly cycle.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp. Gaia Herbs MacaBoost Vanilla Chai (or 1 tsp. of maca, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, cardamom, ginger)
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup frozen coconut meat
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/4 peeled orange
  • 1 Tbsp. toasted flax seed

Make

  1. Prep ingredients by dicing fresh bananas and coconut meat. Add them to a reusable Stasher bag and freezing overnight.
  2. In the morning add everything to a high-speed blender for about 30 seconds to a minute.
  3. Serve with extra cinnamon on top or an added kick.
  4. Enjoy!

This one not only includes fruit but some hidden veggies too. Most green smoothies never fill me up. So because this is winter, and we should be nourishing our bodies, I added some sun butter. If you're unfamiliar with sun butter, it's similar to nut butter but it's nut-free! Sunflower seeds are packed with antioxidants, magnesium, and may promote healthy cholesterol levels. If you're like me and despise waking up early to make breakfast, you're in luck. You can prep all of the fruit a ...

Herbal Coffee Smoothie
Are you a coffee or a tea person? This question always stumps me. I used to always be a coffee person, but after switching to a less-caffeinated lifestyle, I became the biggest tea-fiend. If you're like me, you miss the taste and smell of coffee. Something about it smells like home. Last year, I found chicory coffee, and let me tell you it has been a game changer! Here's why: It's anti-inflammatory. Because it's made from chicory root instead of coffee beans, it's less acidic. There's zero caffeine! So unlike decaf coffee containing trace amounts of caffeine, you can be sure this is at zero. Chicory may also help decrease blood sugar l ...

So to balance it out, I'm bringing some foreign cuisine into my kitchen. During these hot days, I've been craving fresh, raw veggies. This Thai-fusion salad has been on repeat in my house! It's packed with greens, veggies, and the tastiest peanut dressing. Personally, I like using crunchy peanut butter for an extra texture. It's super easy to prep to take on the go, whether you're enjoying it in the office or at the park. Makes 2 servings ...
